My 21st Week of Pregnancy

Whew! I'm probably feeling pretty comfortable these days. Thank God, I'm not too big yet, and the usual discomforts associated with early pregnancy are, for the most part were gone.

So here's my baby now (babycenter): Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.

Yeah you read it right! My 4 year old daughter is now enrolled in her belly dancing class aside from her ballet lessons too. Well, as a stage mom, I really have to support her on what she really likes doing...she loves dancing that much.

My 20th Weeks of Pregnancy

Congratulations!I’ve hit the halfway mark in my pregnancy. The top of my uterus is about level with my belly button, and i’ve likely gained around 2 pounds. Expecting to gain another pound or so each week from now on.

From babycenter: Our baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He’s also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby’s legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the “crown to rump” measurement. After 20 weeks, he’s measured from head to toe.) He’s swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He’s also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you’ll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Grown Up 'lil Girl

My 'lil Danielle has grown up so fast...not just physically but her whole aspects as well. I was so shocked on how she made her own stories and asked questions out of the blue. Well, that's a good sign and I thank God for that. Now she will be an elder sister "Ate" to her/his younger sibling and I hope she will be a responsible sister.

Last September 25, we went to Manila for a family vacation. It was my daughter's first plane ride and guess what??? the whole flight duration she was so restless, transferring from one seats to another. lolz.

Just this afternoon my lil Danielle was invited for a birthday party of her friend Juliana.
It was her first time to be in a party without me because I was advised to be in a bed rest due to my spotting. At first she was so hesitant to go with her dad but in the end she did. I'm so happy to see them both as they went to the party....both of them wore red.

This is my daughter now, she really loves to sing. Look at her, it seems that she already knew how to read the lyrics on the screen. Last June 23 was our cousins birthday, after dinner we went out for a videoke night together with my sis and cousins. oops! my daughter and hubby was there too. We really had fun that we didn't noticed that it was almost 12 midnight but still my daughter is so fully charged!

She Got an Excellent

Yesterday was my daughter's 1st Evaluation Test at school. To my surprise, when I got home late at night his dad showed me the result of their exam. Wow so totally amazed of what I saw... and EXCELLENT mark by her teacher. Right this very morning she was so proud while she handed her test paper to me. I know this may be one single step for our little Danielle but pretty sure this result has brought lots of joy and pride not just to us her parents but to our family as well :)

Yup! my 3 year old toddler was enrolled in a summer class last May 24- June 4, 2010. It is such a joy seeing your little one having a STAR not just on her hands but her paper works as well. She really loves going to school and that she's so excited to wake up early in the morning just to be on time in school. :)

Just yesterday, I brought my daughter for the first time in one of my fave salon and let her experienced the feeling of having a new hair style. Take note, "first time"! Exactly! her hair was never been cut (for almost 4 yrs) since the moment I gave birth to her.

Mommy Moments: My Future Ballerina

About two months ago, I wrote about my daughter's experience of seeing Ms. Lisa Majuca in person as we watched the Ballet Masterpiece of her at SM. She was so enthusiast at that time watching the said recital and that it only explained that she was so eager to learn about it!

I am was so excited when she turned three last month because I can already send her to a ballet school. Indeed, it was the start of a dream come true! Hahhaha...am I that excited? :) Well, last Saturday, I went to Clark Hatch International (CDO Branch) to enroll my daughter and let her observed the ballet class of the other kids. She was so hesitant at first that she wanted to go home but when she saw kids of her age and height that was the time that she got interested and join the group for her first lesson.

Actually, she's not yet officially enrolled because her instructor would just let her IN to observe for two sessions (every Saturday). If my daughter's mind will be now ready/set for a proper class then that's the time that she'll be registered. Hope she will show some interests next week!

Last month we attended my brother-in-law’s wedding and it was just so perfect! I guess it is every woman’s dream to walk down the aisle with your dream wedding getting into reality. What I mean is that, the wedding will just happen once in a lifetime so we wanted it to be a memorable event that something we could cherish for the rest of our lives.

Yeah it’s true that we are in the era of economic crisis but still when it comes to this very special day, we still invest or spend money for the wedding preparation even though it just a simple one. Now that I have a friend who will be getting married in two months time, I could highly recommend her to Mr. Buddy Gancenia of Reality wedding video which is the first and only documentary-reality wedding producers in the Philippines and in the world. Pretty sure that their wedding videography is so great and of good quality plus their wedding videographer are all professionals that made their video style production a highly personal and unique. As they have said that there are no two reality wedding videos that are alike. Just imagine on how creative they are!

You know flossing is a great way to fend off gum disease. But cancer? Turns out that there might be a connection. A recent study of lifestyle habits showed that people with healthy gums also enjoyed a lower risk of developing any type of cancer.

In the study, researchers used questionnaires to track the health histories and lifestyle habits of close to 50,000 men for nearly 18 years. Compared with men who had no track record of gum problems, men with a history of gum disease were 14 percent more likely to develop cancer -- any kind, although the link was especially strong for lung and pancreatic cancer.

The Gateway to Good Health How gum problems might lead to cancer isn't totally clear, but other research indicates that people with gum disease usually have higher blood levels of certain inflammatory markers that are also associated with cancer and other health problems. The Little Bride (Part III)

My daughter was again the Little Bride of my brother-in-law last August 15, 2009.
Guess what? It's her third time to walk alone down the aisle without someone assisting her. Me and hubby were so happy to see her that she has already gained so much confidence and that made us to be proud parents. She is indeed a responsible cute little bride at her age of two!

Considering Sydney for a Vacation!

For almost ten years of staying in Australia, it was the first time for my cousin’s family to have their one month vacation here in our country. They truly had a great experienced staying in this beautiful place of ours. They have visited different tourist spots from one place to another and of course they just met our relatives in person and happened to meet new friends along their way.

I remember the time that they were here I was really worried about their one month stay in one of the hotels in our province. It was so expensive! For a budget traveler like me, it would be so nice if they were able to book and have lower rates like the Accor Hotels City Super Sale is offering. Aside from that they also have their low air fares across the Asia Pacific region, allowing travelers to enjoy some of the world's most exciting cities at bargain rates.

How I wish I will win a voucher for a free 3 night stay at an Accor Hotel in Asia Pacific!! I guess the best thing would be to pray and ask God to bless us more financially so that we can be able to take advantage of savings of up to 60% when we will book on-line between June 23 – 29. Then we will be staying in this period between July 10 and September 30, 2009. This would be a great opportunity for us, God-willing!

Would you believe that this is the work of my two years and eight months old daughter? Me too, I couldn't believed when she called me and let me see her artwork. Amazing right? I did ask her what did she draw and she replied "impee" (meaning slipper). lolz! I guess she was able to get her skills in sketching/drawing from her dad (as well as her dad's brothers). She really loves to draw this time that it made me realize that I need to develop and enhance this kind of talent that she possessed.

I am so blessed of having a family who practices close family ties or bondings. I can still remember when I was just a little kid that every time our class closes, we will get so excited for our upcoming family activities on our lists. One of which is, having some sort of get-togethers or some may call it as reunion every summer time. Even up to this very moment that I myself have my own family, still we continue what we have started as one family. This time, it is our children who will get so excited and feel the same feeling that we used to feel every time we have set some activities during special occasions with the whole family.

Last weekend we happened to drop by at Mantianak Zoo and Botanical Garden at Sugbongcogon, Misamis Oriental. My daughter was so happy to see different kinds of animals for real. Of course as a mom, I was so happy too to see her as she relates what she saw inside the zoo.

Thank God it's Friday and Mommy Moments are here again!

Summer time is coming...yippee!!! I guess it's not only the kids that are so excited about this time, we too are more than excited than them. hahahha. Days from now, we will be spending our summer vacation in our province Misamis Occidental- known to have so many nice beach resorts. The pictures above, was taken during our summer vacation a year ago. I am pretty sure that this time, my daughter would be then so excited because she can now enjoy the summer fun since she is already a year older than before!

She really enjoys being with other kids like her cousins, some of my friends would even tease me to add one for her playmates. hahaha...Sure why not...Hopefully in God's own time!

My daughter Danielle can't sleep without sucking her thumb! She sleeps like a clock, she moves 360 degrees for eight hours. lolz.. She has new sleeping habit- the left hand is for thumb-sucking while the right hand holds her right foot. Can you imagine that?

Four years ago I remember when I went to see an optometrist because I always have a head ache every time I’m working with the computer. I thought it was just my sinusitis then but it was not, I was given a astigmatism glass. Thanksgiving is not to be celebrated not just during birthdays nor special occasions. It should be a way of life- a year long celebration. We have so much to be thankful for in our daily lives. God continually provides all our needs, the life that He adds every time we wake up, the air that we breath, and so on and so forth. God says that "Every thing that has breath Praise the Lord".

Yesterday was a very special day for me to celebrate. I was able to celebrate it with office mates during day time and have a dinner with my family and relatives too. My friends even greeted me with their unending birthday wishes. Of course, my day would not be complete without my super romantic hubby who gave me that bouquet of flowers and a super hyper lovely daughter. Thanks God for such blessings!

The Concept For Beauty

About two weeks ago, I went to have body bliss in a certain Clinic in our city. I guess I need to pamper myself once in a while since it’s been quite sometime that I haven’t gone there. It is of every woman’s need to go to a salon for your hair care, derma clinic for your skin care and so on and so forth. It's so sad to know that they still don't have that Microdermabrasion Equipment in which the stratum corneum (dead outermost surface of the skin)is partially or completely removed by light abrasion. Good thing that I don't need the Vertical Tanning Beds since my color doesn't need it anymore. And if so, it would be expensive though!

Taking care of our beauty is so important since it is an entity which is being admired, or even possesses our features that is widely attributed to beauty in our own culture. Though as the familiar saying goes that “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”! Yeah, that’s true but we have to be beautiful not just in the outside but might as well as the inside which is used to describe the positive aspects of something that is not physically observable.

As I go on searching about the Concept For Beauty I happened to passed by at a certain site that provides information about the beauty and health business. The Lost Li'l Bride

For the second time around, my daughter was little bride during my friend's wedding last January 23, 2009. I was a bit disappointed because she did not walked alone unlike the first wedding that she'd attended. Maybe because she didn't see me in front waving my hand to let her walk by herself. Saving Fund

This cute pinky piggy bank was bought by my hubby for us to start saving in our homes. Though we have a little savings in our bank but still we want to have it also at home. In doing so, we are teaching our little daughter to save for the rainy days. It's so cute to look at whenever she sees a coin she will ask me to put it in the "gy bank", that's how she'll pronounce it. The proceed of this savings will be used for blessing others especially my cousins this coming Holiday Seasons.

Let the Sunshine In

It's been almost three days that we haven't experienced sunlight due to the low pressure area that has been hitting Cagayan de Oro. But don't you know that Is your vitamin D intake up to par? You can get it from tuna and salmon and fortified foods like milk and orange juice. But sunlight is often your best source, which is probably why most people don't get enough -- especially during darker winter/cold months.

Getting enough of this vitamin is vital to our bones and just about every other body part. Adequate amounts not only reduce fracture risk and maintain muscle strength but also appear to -- among other things -- protect your heart, reduce diabetes risk, and lower the odds of certain cancers.

Old Stuffs

As I have posted in my other blog LOVE's Haven, about the flash floods that was happening in our area yesterday. Just this afternoon a man came into our house and asked for some help because they were one of the flood victims. He was asking not for a financial help but was asking for some old clothes that they could wear. Oh my! He told us that he has 2 sons and 2 daughters and they were living in the evacuation center in their own areas.

Good thing that my daughter's stuffs were being prepared by me so that I can give it to those who are really in need of it. I gave those stuffs though it's already been used by her but still it can be reusable by somebody. Her old shoes and slippers and some of her clothes. My mom also did gave him T-shirts and shorts for him. The man was so happy and thankful to receive all those things. I know that it is much better to give than to receive. Thanks God that we're not fully affected.

Rain, Rain Go Away!

Last night, me, my hubby and our little daughter is very excited for tomoorows activity which is going to church as one family. As we woke up, it's another new day to thank God for His goodness but then again we were so sad that we can't go to church because the rain doesn't stop since dawn until the very homes. Some of the barangays here in Cagayan de Oro were experiencing for the second time around of flashfloods. Good thing that we are a bit far from the city that we can't experience it. But still we have to prepare ourselves since the river near our subdivision is now getting higher and higher.

But I believe that God is in full control of all those things...that's why we keep on praying to God that the rain will stop sooner. Thank you Lord!

She's a big girl now!

I just noticed nowadays that our little girl is no more a baby anymore. She has grown so fast, physically she's a quite taller than before and of course I can say that she's so witty as of her age now. She is so good in reasoning and she's in her "I can do it" stage. If you're to going to ask her some questions, she will immediately answer you back without a second thought! LOL! Thanks be to GOD for such wonderful blessings!

Raising a Prayerful Kid

The moment I got pregnant, me and my hubby always see to it that we find both time together praying for our little angel's health, for my safe delivery and of course our thanksgiving to God for the precious gift he has given us.

Time goes on that we have her already, it is our main duty to teach our little toddler on how to pray. But before that, even at her very young age of 1, we already include her with us as we pray together as one family. It's so nice to see her that praying is a vital part in our family. Every time she wants to eat and sleep, she will nod her head and fold her hands and say thanksgiving to God and at the end she will say "Amen"! Sometimes if someone is sick in the house she will whisper her little prayers...

See? How rewarding, joyful and proud we are as parents to see her growing up having a great fear in the Lord.

How to Get Your Toddler to Sleep

Do not give in to pleas for longer bathtime or more stories, or you will reinforce them as habits that mean settling your toddler takes longer. Simply put her to bed and leave the room quietly. Of course, this is often easier said than done. A child who has got into the habit of getting out of bed or waking in the night, will take time to adjust, but be patient. If your child is very anxious, you may need to take a more gentle approach, by using the gradual withdrawal technique.

Even in exceptional circumstances, it is a good idea to keep to the sleep routine if possible. Perhaps your child has been ill, or you have been staying away from home; you may be potty training or a nighttime disruption has meant your child has needed reassurance. Whatever the reason for your child requiring extra attention at night, bear in mind that learning to sleep through the night on her own is essential for her healthy development and well-being. Even if your child is suffering from night terrors or nightmares she is probably better off learning to settle in her own bed.

However, this is much more about personal choice, and you must do what works for you and your family.

How Much Sleep Is Enough?

The chart below shows the average amount of sleep that is recommended for children from one to four years of age. All children are different, so this is not a strict regime, but dropping significantly below these levels at night could cause problems—as could too much napping during the day.

The Christmas Capital

We celebrated our Christmas Eve at our little hometown in Misamis Occidental. Of course it will not be complete if we can't go the the Christmas Capital- the city of Tangub, Misamis Occidental. My little girl had so much fun as she watches the different designs of huge Christmas trees. Since it was a contests, there were lots of entries who joined for the said event. We enjoyed taking photos of ourselves in every entry but it's not for free, but if you're going to get inside their Christmas booth you have to pay for a visit. It was featured by Ms. Korina Sanchez through her TV shows "Rated K". We enjoyed so much taking some pics.. Here's the shots below:

Your Child from 31 to 33 Months: Getting Creative and Assertive

She's a Big Kid Now

My child's physical growth is starting to slow down as she nears her third birthday, but she's getting leaner and faster and more coordinated -- she can sweep the floor, catch a ball, build taller block towers, and even knows how to wash clothes and can grip pens and crayons and write on her own.

As her motor skills improve, she's also increasingly, joyously confident in her play. "Don't be surprised if your child high-fives you as he/she learns new things and becomes more independent."

Here's what I've learned:

Let's Play

Play truly is a child's work. When children engage in physical activity at this age, they improve their strength, endurance, and balance. Games with others help 2-year-olds build language skills and offer a way into the adult world of social rules. Meanwhile, your child's solo investigations into nature, music, and math can teach her about how the world works -- like how some things float while others sink, and how music can affect mood.

Your child has been engaging in symbolic play for months, using toys and dolls to act out events. As she nears her third birthday, "pretend play becomes more sophisticated," and you'll see your child mix and match her props. "She may take a doll from one play set and mix it in with her building blocks, then walk that doll down a staircase made of blocks to get into a toy car."

A Whole New World

In this new, revved-up fantasy life, your child can be a scary lion or a tender mother, a bossy queen or a baby, all while safely working out her emotional life and satisfying her curiosity about why people do things the way they do. Through imaginary play, kids have a chance to take on other points of view and mull over complex emotional issues too.

It's great fun to watch your child's imagination take fire as he rides a mop that has become a horse, serves a dinner made of grass and twig soup, or rides to the moon in a cardboard box. This burning imagination can sometimes result in unique (and occasionally comic) theories about how the world works. By now, your child observer understands certain things because he's seen them with his own eyes, like "the mailman always puts the letters in the mailbox after breakfast." However, for many inexplicable things about the world, like the rainbow over the river after the rainstorm, the explanation may be "magic" -- or your child might concoct stories of his own.

"A monster growled under my bed," she may insist, when explaining why she wants to sleep with you. Or, when you confront him about that broken lamp in the living room, he may claim that he didn't break it even if he was the only one in the room.

Fibs and White Lies

Why do children this age invent stories or even blatantly lie? Mostly, it's because they still have trouble sorting out fantasy from reality. For example, between the ages of 2 and 3, many children engage in "animistic" thinking, believing that inanimate objects are actually alive. "They think the trees are waving their arms, or the table can walk because it has clawed feet." You have to remember that their reality is not your reality.

We adults are partly to blame for this, of course. We tell our children stories about wolves eating grandmothers and men in red suits scrambling down chimneys to put gifts under a tree. What's real and what's not? The boundaries aren't that clear yet, and won't be "until children are 4 or 5" .

Self-Centered Thinking

In addition, "young children usually focus on specific events that are the most important to them and ignore the stuff that isn't". For example, you may have spent an entire week at Disneyland, a week during which your daughter went on rides every day, or visited with cousins you don't often see. But the fact that your child dropped an ice cream cone right after she got it might be the first thing she tells her grandmother because that's something that happened directly to her and she still feels upset when she thinks about it.

Your child eventually outgrows this self-centered stage and will soon learn to tell the difference between real and imagined events. Meanwhile, revel in your little one's make-believe games, because research shows that children who engage in them are more content, self-aware, verbal, sensitive, and socially adept than those who do not.

Fair Treatment and Ownership

What you will also find is that children this age have short memories. When your little girl snatches that red bucket back from her friend and shouts, "Mine!" she may really believe that the bucket belongs to her -- even if she's the one who stole it in the first place. However, when you talk about it with her, your child's budding sense of fair play might kick in and she'll agree to take turns with the bucket.

The flip side is that your child is much more acutely, noisily, and sometimes comically apt to declare that she's been shortchanged. Pour the same amount of juice into two different cups for a pair of kids this age, and you may have a mutiny on your hands as one cries, "But he got more!"

A Changing Worldview

Each day, your child will demonstrate a better working knowledge of the world. One of the clearest signs of this is increased spatial awareness. Ask your 2-year-old to get the toy car he rolled under the table, for instance, and he'll crouch low instead of trying to walk straight under the table and hitting his head.

At age 2, children start learning the most fundamental spatial concepts first, like "on" and "in." They get a lot of practice with these ideas, putting objects "in" containers and watching Mom put dinner "on" the table. At this age, your child will describe an object in relation to a single landmark -- like "the ball is under the tree."

Naturally, what children learn about space and the position of objects by 33 months depends on what caregivers teach them. For instance, saying, "Let's put the plates on the table," or, "Now let's put the crayons in the container," helps a child grasp the language and the concepts involved.

Proud Mom

Just yesterday, we attended a wedding from a very long time super friend (since elementary days till now). My daughter happened to be her little bride, while me and my husband as secondary sponsors. I was so hesitant to shoulder all the expenses for her gown since I was so doubtful if she would really walk down the aisle alone thinking that she was just 2 years & 2 months old. But still as an optimistic mom, I still looked for the design of her gown and even bought the materials needed as well as her cute little high-heeled shoes.

To my surprise, I was really amazed that she was able to make it. I did not even guide her as she walked down the aisle all alone. I just made a wave from the altar making a sign language to come in front and be with me. Thanks God, she responded. As a mom, I am so proud that at her very young age she was able to do it by herself. Too bad, the elder kids who happened to be the flower girls were the one being guided with their moms as they march going to the altar. *lol*

Early of next year, she will be then a little bride for the second time around. Am so excited for that time to come! Yahoooo……

This is a beautiful poem... There is an appeal from a Zimbabwean couple at the bottom of message, not asking for anything more than that you hand the poem on. The husband wrote the poem.

Here it goes:

Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face and laugh when I feel like crying.

Just for this morning, I will let you choose what you want to wear, and smile and say how perfect it is.

Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry and pick you up and take you to the park to play.

Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together.

Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off, and sit with you in the backyard and blow bubbles.

Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the ice cream truck, and I will buy you one if he comes by.

Just for this afternoon, I won't worry what you are going to be when you grow up or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned.

Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying to fix them.

Just for this afternoon, I will take us to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys.

Just for this evening, I will hold you in my arms and tell you a story about how you were born and how much I love you.

Just for this evening, I will let you splash in the tub and not get angry.

Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars.

Just for this evening, I will snuggle beside you for hours, and miss my favourite TV shows.

Just for this evening when I run my finger through your hair as you pray, I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given.

I will think about the mothers and fathers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers and fathers who are visiting their children's graves instead of their bedrooms. The mothers and fathers who are in hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly and screaming inside that little body . And when I kiss you goodnight I will hold you a little tighter, a little longer. It is then, that I will thank God for you, and ask him for nothing, except one more day......... ....

I am Grateful
